Anticipating a surge in interest ahead of the opening of the London 2012 Olympic games and Great Britain’s debut in the handball competition, British Handball required a concise, attractive and straight-forward basic guide aimed at newcomers to the sport.
Warp Design created a credit card sized fold out guide that uses friendly illustrations and bullet point copy to summarise the rules of the game in a highly visual way that makes it easy for beginners to understand what they are watching for the first time. Technical information relating to the playing court and equipment is also provided to aid readers interested in finding out more about playing the game.
The guide has been produced in an initial run of over 70,000 units. Compact and lightweight it has seen UK wide distribution via give-aways at corporate events, schools, sports clubs, high street handouts, leisure centres and retail positioning.
The initial print run features an outline schedule of the Olympic Handball schedule, but the guide is designed such that this information can be easily replaced with future match schedules or a sponsor advertisement ahead of future re-production and distribution making it a valuable asset in British Handball and the IHF’s marketing toolkit.
